You have full control over the data you store in ClearCash. You can export it at any time, and you can permanently delete your account and everything associated with it.
What data ClearCash holds
ClearCash stores the data you provide or that flows through the app:
- Account information — your name, email address, and profile photo (if you sign in with Google)
- Financial accounts — the accounts, institutions, and balances you’ve added
- Transactions — all transactions you’ve recorded, imported, or synced via Plaid
- Categories and tags — your custom categories and tags
- Groups — any groups you’ve created or are a member of, including shared splits
- Properties and loans — property records and loan details you’ve entered
- App preferences — your currency, date format, number format, and theme settings
ClearCash does not store your bank login credentials. See Data security →
Exporting your data
You can export a copy of your financial data at any time from Account Settings → Export Data. The export is delivered as a CSV or ZIP file containing your transactions, accounts, and related records, formatted according to your date and number format preferences.
Deleting your account
To permanently delete your account, go to Account Settings → Delete Account. You’ll be asked to confirm before anything is removed.
Deleting your account permanently erases:
- Your profile and login credentials
- All financial accounts, institutions, balances, and transactions
- All categories, tags, groups, properties, and loan records
- All app preferences and settings
This action cannot be undone. If you think you might want your data later, export it before deleting.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I delete just some of my data without deleting my account?
Yes. You can delete individual transactions, accounts, categories, groups, properties, and loans from within the app at any time. Account deletion is only needed if you want to remove everything and close your account entirely.
What happens to group data when I delete my account?
If you’re the owner of a group, deleting your account will affect that group. We recommend transferring ownership or closing the group before deleting your account. Other members’ data is not affected.
Does deleting my account cancel my subscription?
Deleting your account removes your ClearCash data, but you should also cancel any active subscription through the App Store or Google Play to stop future billing. Deleting the account alone does not automatically cancel a subscription managed by the app stores.
