You connect an investment account through the same Plaid flow used for other connected accounts. If your institution supports investment data, Plaid lets you select eligible investment accounts during setup.
Connect a new investment account
- Open Accounts.
- Tap Add Institution.
- Choose to connect an account, then find and select your institution.
- Complete the secure Plaid sign-in flow.
- When Plaid shows the available accounts, select the investment accounts you want to add.
- Finish the connection. ClearCash adds the selected accounts and starts retrieving their current investment data.
ClearCash never receives or stores your bank login credentials. You sign in directly with your institution in Plaid’s secure connection flow.
Add an investment account from an existing institution
If you already connected an institution, open that institution from Accounts and choose Add Account. Select Connect new account, then complete the Plaid update flow. This updates the existing connection rather than creating a duplicate institution.
Plaid may ask you to grant investment access and choose accounts again. Select the investment account you want ClearCash to track, then complete the flow.
Wait for the first snapshot
After you finish Plaid Link, the account may appear before its holdings do. Open the investment account to see its setup status. Your institution can take a few hours to deliver the first investment snapshot.
Use Check Again on the account detail screen to reload the latest available data. There is no need to reconnect while the first snapshot is still being retrieved.
If your account is not available
An institution may support regular bank accounts but not investment data. An investment account may also be unavailable because of the account type, the institution’s Plaid connection, or the permissions selected in Link.
Try these steps:
- Make sure you selected the investment account in Plaid Link.
- From the existing institution, choose Add Account and complete the update flow to review your selections and permissions.
- If the account still is not listed, contact support with the institution name and account type. Do not send account numbers or login details.
Reconnect a connection that needs attention
If ClearCash shows Reconnect Required, Error, or Disconnected for an investment account, open the account and follow the reconnect prompt. Reconnecting restores the institution connection; it does not create a second investment account or duplicate your data.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I see the account but not its positions?
ClearCash may receive the account before the institution delivers the first holdings snapshot. Wait a few hours, then open the account and use Check Again. If the positions still do not appear, the institution may not provide investment holdings through Plaid.
Can I connect an account that is already linked to the same institution?
Yes. Use Add Account from the existing institution and choose Connect new account. ClearCash updates that connection in place so you do not need to add the institution a second time.
Will ClearCash import my investment trades?
No. This release imports the current account and holdings snapshot. It does not import a transaction ledger or treat a changed position as a recorded purchase or sale.
