ClearCash brings supported investment accounts into the same Accounts experience as your cash, credit, and loan accounts. Connect an eligible brokerage, retirement, or crypto account through Plaid to see its current balance and positions alongside the rest of your finances.

What ClearCash tracks

For a connected investment account, ClearCash can show the current information your institution provides, including:

  • Account balance and account type
  • Current positions, such as stocks, funds, cash equivalents, or crypto holdings
  • Quantity, price, market value, and allocation when reported
  • Cost basis and unrealized gain or loss when your institution supplies the required values
  • Tax-lot details when available from your institution

Investment accounts count as assets. Their account balance is included once in total assets and net worth; the individual positions are supporting detail, not additional assets.

ClearCash is a personal-finance tracker, not a brokerage. It cannot place trades, move money, or change holdings at your institution.

Supported accounts

Availability depends on Plaid and your institution. When an institution supports investment data, you can select eligible accounts during the normal connection flow. This can include brokerage accounts, workplace retirement plans, IRAs, 529 plans, HSAs with investments, and supported crypto accounts.

If an account does not appear in Plaid Link, its institution may not support investment connections or may not have made the account available to ClearCash.

How investment data stays current

Your institution remains the source of truth. ClearCash receives current account and holdings snapshots through Plaid and updates the account when new data is available. Values are not guaranteed to be real-time, and a holdings update is not a record of every trade or transaction that happened between updates.

If the first snapshot has not arrived yet, the account detail screen lets you check again. Some institutions can take a few hours to deliver initial investment data.

What you can and cannot edit

You can rename a connected investment account in ClearCash to make it easier to recognize. The new name is only used in ClearCash and does not change the name at your institution.

Holdings, balances, values, and tax lots are read-only. To correct investment data, update it with your institution and allow time for a new snapshot to reach ClearCash.

Manual investment-position entry, trade recording, and manual pricing are not available in this release.
