Connecting your AI assistant

ClearCash can connect to any MCP-enabled AI assistant — including Claude and ChatGPT. Once connected, you can ask plain questions about your finances and get answers drawn directly from your actual account data.

Requirements

Before you connect, make sure you have:

• An active ClearCash subscription — the AI connector is included with all paid plans. If you’re not yet a subscriber, you can sign up at my.clearcash.app.
• An MCP-enabled AI assistant — Claude and ChatGPT both support MCP. Other AI tools are adding support regularly. If your tool supports remote MCP servers, use the Manual setup method below.

Connect via your AI’s directory

Most MCP-enabled AI assistants have a built-in directory of connectors. This is the easiest way to connect if ClearCash is listed there.

Step 1 — Open connector settings in your AI tool

Look for a Connectors, Integrations, or MCP Servers panel in your AI’s settings.

• Claude: Settings → Connectors → Browse directory
• ChatGPT: Settings → Connectors

Step 2 — Search for ClearCash and click Connect

Find ClearCash in the directory and click Connect. You’ll be redirected to the ClearCash authorization screen.

Step 3 — Sign in and approve access

Sign in with your ClearCash account and approve the connection. Access is read-only — your AI assistant can query your financial data but cannot make changes to your accounts or transactions.

Connect manually

If your AI tool supports remote MCP servers but ClearCash isn’t listed in a directory, you can set it up manually in under a minute.

Step 1 — Copy your MCP server URL from the ClearCash app

Your personal MCP server URL is in the app under Profile → AI Connections → Connect an AI client. Tap the copy icon next to the URL.

Step 2 — Add a remote MCP server in your AI tool

Open your AI assistant’s settings and find the option to add a remote MCP server. Paste in the URL you copied.

• Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector → paste URL
• ChatGPT: Settings → Connectors → Add → paste URL

Step 3 — Sign in when prompted

Your AI tool will open a ClearCash sign-in screen the first time it connects. Sign in and approve read-only access.

After connecting

Once the connection is approved, your AI assistant can immediately start querying your financial data. Try asking:

• “What’s my current net worth?”
• “How much did I spend on groceries last month?”
• “What are my outstanding loans?”

Your AI only retrieves data when you actively ask a question — nothing is shared in the background.
