Get Started

ClearCash uses passwordless sign-in — no password to create or remember. This page walks through creating your account and completing the three-step setup that gets your finances into the app.

Creating your account

From the sign-in screen, choose one of two methods:

Google

Tap Sign in with Google and complete the standard Google authorization flow. If your Google account email hasn’t been seen before, a new ClearCash account is created automatically.

Enter your email address and tap Send link. ClearCash sends a sign-in email containing both a clickable link and a 6-digit code.

  • On the device you’re signing in from — tap the link in the email and you’ll be signed in automatically.
  • If the link opens on a different device — enter the 6-digit code from the email on the sign-in screen instead.

The code and link expire after a short period. If yours has expired, go back to the sign-in screen and request a new one.

If the email doesn’t appear within a minute or two, check your spam or junk folder. The sender is noreply@clearcash.app.

After signing in

The first time you sign in, ClearCash loads your account and applies your preferences. You’ll see a brief loading screen — this is normal. When it finishes, you’ll land on the home screen where the setup guide is waiting.

The setup guide

A card on your home screen walks you through three steps. Each step advances automatically once the previous one is complete.

Step 1 — Add a financial institution

Add the institution that holds the accounts you want to track. There are two ways to do this:

  • Connect via Plaid — links directly to your bank and pulls in your accounts and transaction history automatically. ClearCash uses Plaid to connect to thousands of banks and credit unions securely.
  • Add manually — create an institution yourself, without any bank connection. You’ll manage accounts and transactions yourself going forward.

Step 2 — Set up your accounts

How this step works depends on how you added your institution:

  • Connected via Plaid — ClearCash automatically creates accounts for each bank account it finds. No action is needed; the card updates when your accounts are ready.
  • Added manually — you’ll create your accounts yourself, entering the account name, type, and currency.

Step 3 — Add your transactions

With your accounts in place, the last step is getting your transactions in:

  • Connected via Plaid — your transaction history is synced automatically. This typically covers 12–24 months depending on your bank and may take a minute to complete.
  • Import a CSV — if you have a CSV export from your bank, you can upload it directly. Importing transactions from CSV →
  • Add manually — enter transactions one by one from the home screen or Transactions tab at any time.

Setup complete

Once all three steps are done, the setup card shows You’re All Set! and you’re ready to use ClearCash. Your accounts and transactions are visible from the home screen and the Transactions tab.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to connect my bank to use ClearCash?

No. Connecting via Plaid is optional. You can add a manual institution, create accounts yourself, and enter transactions by hand or by importing a CSV. All of ClearCash’s reporting and sharing features work the same either way — you just won’t get automatic syncing. See Manual accounts →

The sign-in page said new accounts are temporarily unavailable. What does that mean?

ClearCash occasionally pauses new sign-ups during high-growth periods. You can join the waitlist from the sign-in screen to be notified when spots reopen — we send one email when they do.

My magic link code says it’s expired. What should I do?

Go back to the sign-in screen and enter your email again to request a new code. Codes expire after a short window for security reasons.

Can I connect more than one bank?

Yes. Once setup is complete, you can add additional institutions at any time from the Accounts section. There’s no limit to the number of institutions or accounts you can connect.
