ClearCash is a Progressive Web App (PWA). That means you use it in a browser, but you can also install it to your device so it behaves exactly like a native app — it gets its own icon on your home screen or taskbar, opens in its own window without any browser UI around it, and works the same whether you’re on desktop or mobile.
Installing on iPhone or iPad
Safari is required for PWA installation on iOS and iPadOS.
- Open my.clearcash.app in Safari.
- Tap the Share button (the box with an arrow pointing up) in the toolbar.
- Scroll down in the share sheet and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Edit the name if you’d like, then tap Add.
ClearCash now appears on your home screen alongside your other apps. Tap it to open directly — no browser UI, no address bar.
The Share button appears at the bottom of the screen on iPhone and at the top on iPad. If you don’t see it, make sure you’re using Safari — Chrome and Firefox on iOS don’t support PWA installation.
Installing on Android
- Open my.clearcash.app in Chrome.
- Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) in the top-right corner.
- Tap Add to Home screen (you may see Install app on newer versions of Chrome).
- Confirm by tapping Add or Install.
The ClearCash icon appears on your home screen. Long-pressing it gives you the same options as any other app.
On some Android devices Chrome will show an install banner at the bottom of the screen automatically after you’ve visited the app a couple of times. Tapping that banner has the same effect.
Installing on desktop (Mac, Windows, Linux)
Chrome and Edge both support PWA installation on desktop.
Chrome
- Open my.clearcash.app in Chrome.
- Look for the install icon (a monitor with a down-arrow) in the right side of the address bar.
- Click it and confirm with Install.
ClearCash opens in its own window and appears in your applications list / taskbar.
Safari (macOS Sonoma or later)
- Open my.clearcash.app in Safari.
- Go to File → Add to Dock…
- Edit the name if you’d like, then click Add.
ClearCash appears in your Dock and in your Applications folder under a “Web Apps” subfolder. Safari PWA installation requires macOS Sonoma (14) or later.
Edge
- Open my.clearcash.app in Edge.
- Click the three-dot menu (···) and select Apps → Install this site as an app.
- Confirm the name and click Install.
What the installed experience looks like
Once installed, ClearCash:
- Opens in its own window with no address bar, tabs, or other browser UI
- Appears in your app switcher and taskbar/dock like any other app
- Can be set as a default when you tap a ClearCash link from email or another app
- Updates automatically in the background — no app store downloads needed
There is no difference in features between the installed version and the browser version. Everything works the same way.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to install it to use ClearCash?
No. ClearCash works fully in any modern browser without installation. Installing is optional — it just gives you a more app-like experience with a home screen icon and a dedicated window.
Will I lose my data if I uninstall the PWA?
No. All your data lives in ClearCash’s servers, not on your device. Uninstalling the app is the same as removing a browser shortcut — you can reinstall it at any time and sign back in to find everything exactly as you left it.
Does the installed app work offline?
ClearCash requires an internet connection to load your accounts and transactions. Offline use is not currently supported.
I don’t see an install option in my browser. What should I do?
Make sure you’re using a supported browser: Safari on iOS/iPadOS, Safari on macOS Sonoma or later, or Chrome or Edge on Android and desktop. Firefox and other browsers don’t currently support PWA installation. If you’re on a supported browser and still don’t see the option, try refreshing the page or clearing your browser cache.
