Share with boundaries

Share the picture. Keep the responsibility clear.

Give your group visibility into the expenses, accounts, property, and debt you choose. Set a responsibility split once, and ClearCash applies each person’s share automatically—so shared finances stay visible while your personal net worth counts only what’s yours. When arrangements change, schedule a new split or deliberately update a past period, with confirmation before history changes.

Two kinds of access

Share the picture. Decide what counts.

Visibility and responsibility are separate choices. Share an item with a group so everyone can see the context, then decide whether it should affect each person’s personal financial picture.

Visibility only

View-only

Visible to your group, without changing ownership.

$0 in personal net worth
Visibility + responsibility

Split access

Visible to your group, with your share counted.

Your 60% share counts
  • View-only access keeps an item visible without adding it to anyone’s personal net worth.
  • Split access applies the group’s percentage, so each person sees the share that belongs to them.
  • Only one group can hold split access to an item, so it is never double-counted.

One timeline, every shared item

Set the split. Adjust it as life changes.

Every group has one split timeline, and each period must always total 100%. Adjust one person's percentage and the rest rebalance automatically—evenly for two people, proportionally across a larger household. Schedule a change for a future date and it takes effect exactly then; correct a past period and ClearCash asks you to confirm before applying it retroactively.

Questions, answered

Details that matter.

What happens if I haven't set up a split yet?

New groups start with an equal split across all members. You can adjust the percentages at any time from the group's settings—there's nothing to configure before sharing your first account or expense.

Can I share something with a group without splitting it?

Yes. Sharing has two levels: view access shows a group the item without affecting anyone's personal net worth, and split access applies the group's default split so each member's share counts toward their own total.

Can two groups both split the same account?

No—an account, property, or loan can only have one group holding split access at a time, so its balance is never double-counted. It can still be shared as view-only with other groups alongside that.

What if one specific expense needs a different split than the group's default?

You can override the split on an individual transaction. Everything else shared with the group keeps using the group's default, so one-off exceptions don't require changing the whole group's setup.

Do split changes apply retroactively, or only going forward?

Either, deliberately. Schedule a change for a future date and it applies exactly when it starts. Edit a past period and ClearCash asks you to confirm before applying it retroactively, so historical accuracy is never accidental.

Share what's fair, automatically.

Set a group's split once and let ClearCash apply it to every expense, account, and debt you choose to share.
